The girls are... HOT :-)
Yeah right... and ready to bomb ya… I am not into the sado-maso stuff... -g
That one sounds interesting.
No, not really other than to arrive at the sad conclusion that once again, Master Mencken hits another bull's eye.... he claimed that...
Psychotherapy: The theory that the patient will probably get well anyhow, and is certainly a damned fool.
LOL we won't get into that... [got war on drugs?] -g
"With us or against us"
I am just trying to show that things need to also be considered from the eyes of the outside.... a form of what if's... I am certainly no terrorist.
Terrorism is not a new phenomenon. It just seems that way to North Americans who never really experienced it aside from a couple of sporadic incidents.
Well... let's not forget Oklahoma... and that was domestic... from the local inbreds, who think that killing innocent people is justified because you are attacking the government AND it is going to "wake up" the zombies.... oh yes, and they want an all white everything... in a way, sort of the mentality like your friend, the guy that does not want to travel... -g
My own theory is that terrorism would not be where it is today had the US (and Europe) taken a far stronger stance against Arafat. The idea of treating that assassin as a "diplomat” sickens me... and so today we are getting the "dividends" of such "wise" policy... I do think history teaches us lessons... IF we are willing to listen.
"fighting terrorism" - I find this phrase very bizarre and personally feel it detracts from the understanding of the problem. "Terrorism" is a method of warfare.
and so is "Guerrilla"... in both instances, the only way to get rid of it is by total annihilation... so guided missiles will help up to a point only... again, all this supports my friend's view's.
As the disparity between nations grows, so does the tension. This is not to say, of course, that rich nations should pour money into poor ones to level the field at their own expense, but the dynamics are there and it would do us well to recognize them.
Yes, and yes...
The discrepancies are getting larger, (even within the US).
And it is true that money alone, (particularly simply "given” is no solution... how many tomes have we experience the great social experiment(s) fail?
How many MORE times do we have to go through the waste?
Capitalism is NOT an automatic solution and it does have risks... but it is the BEST solution so far....
But it requires WORK from those willing to make it a success... and certainly an environment conductive to it.... war and chaos is NOT the way...
This brings me to... [As the evil influence in all this] R E L I G I O N....
The opium of the people...
In this corner... Muslims -vs- Christians (or Jews) or whatever.... until we remove the fanatical element in both sides.... --> in a broader sense here, i am not talking strictly the US here <----...
We are doomed...
"Everybody hates us because we are rich, powerful, and wonderful"
Well...
To dispel that, the first thing that it is needed is for the government to be more honest with the people... I am finding that a lot of the stuff that went on... is not even known by most people... and now that the fire is starting to be felt here, it all comes as a surprise...
And then... the all important goal is to "defend” ourselves from the evil bastards...
While I do not deny that yes there is a threat and we should defend ourselves... we should also LEARN the WHY's just so that we are informed and do not repeat the same mistakes....
Easy to say...
I have enjoyed every visit to the US,
We live in a land of abounding quackeries, and if we do not learn how to laugh we succumb to the melancholy disease, which afflicts the race of viewers-with-alarm... In no other country known to me is life as safe and agreeable, taking one day with another, as it is in These States. Even in a great Depression few if any starve, and even in a great war the number who suffer by it is vastly surpassed by the number who fatten on it and enjoy it. Thus my view of my country is predominantly tolerant and amiable. I do not believe in democracy, but I am perfectly willing to admit that it provides the only really amusing form of government ever endured by mankind.
