I have several domain names that I've shifted from Network Solutions/Verisign to others. I found that the cost elsewhere is 1/3 the price and the online domain management system is much better. I ran into several problems with N.S.'s domain management but have never had a problem with the other outfits. I think there are a lot of people with similar experiences and once they try out a competitor many will switch over when renewals are due.
