Read this same post over in the Westell forum. I don't think those service deployment time frames are on the money. Of course there are problems with deploying DSL. That is to be expected with any new technology.

Splitting POTS, traversing DLCs, and working beyond 18 kft are all problems that are presently being addressed. Dont get the message that they are insurmountable. ADSL works and is the answer to providing multimegabit access over existing infrastructure. This *will* take time. Two to three years is ridiculous given the life cycle of most silicon today and the fact that nearly half of the RBOCs are on record stating that services will start in early 1997 and ramp up towards the end of the year.
