>> What good is the technology without content? I would never get sat radio for music, that is why I have a CD player, BUT take my favorite shows to radio and you force me to switch.

Content is important; but only to the extent both services are in the same ballpark. And they are. XM has MLB and NASCAR; SIRI has NFL; XM has 3 NCAA conferences; SIRI has 24 selected NCAA teams. SIRI has Stern in a year. XM has Opie & Anthony for those who need their daily dose of fart jokes.

The point is, neither company has a big enough content lead to cause MOST PEOPLE who buy a new Toyota to have the factory XM removed and a Sirius unit dealer installed. A few will, not many. Fewer still will opt for an aftermarket Sirius unit in a Honda or GM. It is about the OEM deals.

As was pointed out by very astute poster on another thread -- content differentiates SDARS from terrestrial, NOT XM from SIRI. Either service is so far beyond what can get on terrestrial, it just doesn't matter from there.

Finally, your remarks on the music content. I have thousands of CDs accumulated over 25 years. I haven't bought one in two years. Why? No need. I could NEVER compete with the playlists at XM. I've heard more new, great music since I quit buying CDs than I did the 25 years I was spending my hard-earned cash on them. The same principle holds as to XM vs. IPOD.

XM's music content is the most important reason, IMO, to own XM (or even SIRI, although their music content is quite a bit weaker than XM's IMO). The other stuff, that's nice, too.
