The PS/2 had a local bus architecture, a new keyboard and mouse and ran an entirely new operating system called OS/2. Even though OS/2 was written by Microsoft, it wasn’t compatible with the MS-DOS world. Most of the major software companies such as WordPerfect and Lotus made OS/2 versions of their popular software packages. Still, if a DOS user wanted to buy a PS/2 it meant that they would have to purchase all new software and learn a new system.

This was the reason that the PS/2 achieved very poor market acceptance. The saying became, “IBM’s not IBM compatible.”

Wow! This is really screwed up. This conveyance of the PS2 story is way off the mark. The rest of the article is not much better, I am afraid.
