Institutions have 6 months to file their stock transactions. So I think most data about institution ownership is outdated for small company like cymer. In addition, institutions have the incentive to file with the SEC quickly when they purchased stock so as to increase publicity and jack up stock price. That's why you often see fund managers touting the stocks they own on TV or magazines. They don't have such incentive when comes to selling. But of course, you have weird breed like Warren Buffet who never wants the public to know what he is doing.

In my opinion, the best way to detect institution ownership is to look at the daily volume of the stock. Did you notice the volume has been diminishing compared to about 4 months ago?
