Noticed there wasn't a hifi or video thread on SI but thought people here might have some expertise. I'm looking at getting a Rotel 1056 multi-channel AV amp and some Axiom speakers (they're internet only AFAIK) which have come off very well against speakers twice their price. The Rotel I auditioned with some B&W speakers and it was very good in the music department, a Boz Scaggs track and some Diana Krall. I have a fairly big room (38x18, plaster walls) but only use 1/2 for the TV/music area. Lots of window area. Rotel 1056 is about $1300, Axioms (a 5 channel surround system with powered sub-woofer but bookshelf sized speakers) around $1500. Any random or specific thoughts of audiophiles or enthusiasts appreciated.
