Some thoughts on a capitulation bottom...CNBC of course has been calling yesterday a bottom due to the high volume saying it was a capitulation event. I am not convinced. True volume was high, but I would expect an extremely abnormal volume number for a true capitulation event as this would be more in tune with panic when the masses are truly involved. For the Naz, I would not be surprised if a real capitulation event saw 4 billion in volume or more. Also, while the DOW and the S&P sold off pretty hard yesterday, the Naz did not. On a true panic bottom, nothing is safe and techs would be the last place to be especially. All 3 indexes need to be in sync.
