Don Crabb managed to corner a Compaq exec and get some thoughts on the iMac ( maccentral.com ):

This machine is going to scare the living hell out of the Wintel competition. And give
home and school Mac customers a reason to smile and a reason to replace their aging
Macs.

If you doubt either assertion, consider that moments ago I spoke with
a senior executive at Compaq about the iMac. "I don't see how they
squeezed the price that low. And I bet their margins are still good.
Am I worried? You're damn right I'm worried," he said, "Looks like
Jobs is serious this time. We've got to play catch-up."

Marcqk (who is obviously working his way through Macsurfer at the moment and is also seriously considering Linda's comment about it being time for pizza)

PS--Apparently it is only the Apple Store UK that is ready for business, not a European Store.
