I am considering two energy sector mutual funds. VGENX and ICENX. I can only invest in one. I currently have 1k to invest. VGENX has a better return and lower fees, but has a 3k min starting investment. It will be several months before I will have 3k to invest.

Here is the fee and return structure for each -

SYMBOL 10yr return/10k fees
VGENX $31,030.75 0.34%
ICENX $28,013.06 1.20%

Is the return and fee structure great enough to make it worth waiting 6 months to invest in the VGENX fund? I plan to hold this for many years.

Thanks,
ts
