That is interesting. Gold was 195 dollars at the end of 1974. Inflation has increased prices by 4.34 times since then, or more. If we use this factor against POG, then we get a price today of $846.30 which is very close to Gold's price today.

However given rising oil/food prices in the past year, we could say that the CPI is lagging a bit.
