Alomex is right: Ugly isn't the point.

HOWEVER, I just spec'd a Toshiba Portege 650CT for my boss.

Ugly? Yes. But that's secondary to the amount of HEAT that sucker puts out under the left palm rest. No kidding, my hands start to sweat after typing on that thing for more than 15 minutes or so. It's uncomfortable. And the heat on top of the pad is nothing compared to how hot (that's HOT, not WARM) the desktop gets underneath the thing. It's scary, really.
