LOL...so that all of you conventional thinkers can have a nut in your midst to compare notes with! We all knew that already. What struck me was the logic of not taking up all that space on the outside of the disk (the fastest part). When I tried a setting of 1024 for minimum swap file more than 10% of my disk space got eaten up. Took norton about 30 minutes to move all this to the front of the disk. I reset to 300 (amount of ram adjusted up to the nearest 50) and have been monitoring swap file and virtual memory since. I did exceed the swap file size and dip into virtual once but only after I had almost everything on my computer running. VM dipped to 17% remaining and I figured it was time to quit pushing. At the time I couldn't tell any degradation in the speed of any app. In reality, I would never have that many apps open at one time anyway. tc
