I'm not too worried about the low royalties. It's just life in the fast lane. But it's annoying to see the service providers wanting to get free spectrum so they can capture what QUALCOMM should have had.

If there is capturing of that value to be had, and there is, I prefer it to be done by governments, which at least to some extent act on behalf of the community for public works. A shame they'll pour it down the drain though.

The beauty contest method is a huge transfer of wealth from taxpayers to service providers. Beauty contests will NOT mean lower subscriber prices per minute, contrary to what most people think. Service providers will spectrum for what the market will bear, which is a function of scarcity.

[I wish Globalstar could figure out that - sell it for what the market will bear].
