Referring back to an earlier conversation... I've now spoken with two people who have had success "porting" iPad data-only plans to an iPhone. They also managed to hook in SMS gateways and "looks like a normal phone number" VOIP. I don't know anybody with a decent Android tablet, so I don't know if this is doable with Android phones, although its hard to imagine its not. When the 5 is released, pushing the 4 down to the cheapie price tier, I think I may just try that. In the meantime, waiting with baited breath for the Nexus 7... Relating this back to AAPL: I continue to be concerned that the iOS universe is not holding my attention like it used.
