Ken, I don't know if you read this post a few days ago. I think it would answer some of your questions. I have placed the link down for you. The article referenced is written by Peter Lynch, a proponent of the buy and hold strategy. He provides a few guidelines and provides examples of these guidelines as they apply to certain stocks.
