Hoover, portfolio manager of Jurika & Voyles' $30 million Mini-Cap Fund, searches for stocks
with market capitalizations of between $200 million and $ 500 million, price-to-earnings ratios
below the market's and debt ratios of less than 40%. She's especially keen on sustainable growth

Stocks of companies that make products her kids like. While she thinks of her portfolio as a fourth
child - 'the problem child' - she uses her three grown children for investing ideas. There's Mackie
Designs Inc. (MKIE), for example, which makes audio mixers for the home and now for small
studios. Hoover's son owns a Mackie system. There's also Softkey International Inc. ( SKEY).
One of Hoover's daughters swears by the company's recently acquired unit Learning Co. .............
