Thanks, Carl, for the background. It doesn't make sense to me, either, so this may well be a good buying opportunity.

One thing I do know is that sales of office supplies in August and September should be good. Why? Because the fiscal year for the federal and many state and local governments starts October 1. Tens of thousands of offices nationwide will be in a hurry to spend what is left in their budgets for office supplies -- or else lose that money. Many public schools are in the same boat, not to mention the back-to-school sales of notebooks, calculators, pens, etc.
