>>One question that I would like you to address is (in all sincerity), is if Palm is so dominant, how has Handspring taken a 25% market share in less than 1-year? Has any other dominant firm, in another industry, lost this drastic of a market share, in such a short time frame?<<

Advalorem, one thing I would like to ask you, in all sincerity, is to show how Hand captured that 25% market share from Palm.

FIRST of all, it wasn't Palm that lost massive share.

SECOND, every Hand sale is a victory for Palm OS, which has GAINED massive share (now apparently over 90%!). Yes, it really is a shame how complacent Palm is, isn't it? (Guess you missed the articles that circulated recently about how Palm continues to operate under paranoia mentality...)

THIRD, both HAND's sales and the expanding share of Palm OS have come on the back of massive Hand subsidies (both by the company and by Hand shareholders), to the tune of over $100 million or so by now, right?

Why should Palm object if HAND takes share from Microsoft by selling the Visor as a loss leader???????

Palm gets to sell its own products at profit and spend money building its brand (and who knows what else), and Hand can bleed to the benefit of Palm OS. As a Palm shareholder, that makes me happy (and I thank Hand shareholders for their generosity too).
