LENEXA, KS, March 1 /CNW-PRN/ - SLMsoft.com, Inc., a leading global provider of electronic financial transaction solutions for the e-commerce market, today announced that First American Bank Texas, SSB and its sister bank, First American Bank, SSB, have chosen SLMsoft.com to provide image processing services for its 71 statewide branches under the terms of this multi-year contract. First American Bank Texas, SSB, and its affiliate, First American Bank, SSB, have combined total assets of $2.5 billion.

SLMsoft.com will process consumer checks, print monthly transaction statements and notices and capture the front and back images of all checks that First American processes. With SLMsoft.com, First American will be able to totally outsource and automate its check processing procedures through SLMsoft.com's network of processing centers. Automating the item processing procedure will increase efficiencies for the bank, and the check imaging service will enable the bank's customers to retrieve check images over the Internet through SLMsoft.com's EC-street e-financial portal technology. SLMsoft.com's EC-street network provides the real-time connectivity between host processor back-office systems and front-end delivery channels, such as Internet banking systems, IVR (telephone banking), ATMs and wireless devices.

``We chose SLMsoft.com because they provided a state-of-the-art, cost-effective item processing image solution that would integrate well with our long-term product strategies that includes providing electronic information to our customers,' remarked First American Bank of Texas Executive Vice President (Operations) Charles Oehlert. ``We investigated other vendors, but found that SLM matched our logistical requirements and had sufficient processing capability and flexibility to meet our needs.'

First American's future technology plans include expanded use of the Internet to add multiple channel delivery systems for their financial services, and an e-commerce network of comprehensive electronic banking solutions.

``First American's plan to increase its use of technology is typical of community banks who are using technology solutions to attract and retain customers and generate new revenue streams,' said Govin Misir, Chairman and CEO of SLMsoft.com. ``Consumers are demanding that more financial services be delivered through convenient, multiple channels such as the Internet, ATMs and kiosks. Our e-commerce solutions, hosted image processing services and transaction-fee based pricing are attracting a large volume of business for SLMsoft.com.'

TowerGroup reports that one of the most significant trends in retail banking today is the increased interest from banks in multiple channel delivery systems.

``Banks are being driven toward multiple channel delivery systems by compelling changes in consumer behavior, the financial services industry and advanced technological capabilities,' continued Misir. ``SLMsoft.com's technology development is accelerating rapidly toward the development of e-commerce networks that allow community banks to deliver a complete range of real-time, online e-financial solutions through a variety of wired and wireless delivery channels.'
