Karun,

if the Pentium Bug was severe we would have thousands of Pentiums crashing all around us every day. Don't forget how many millions are in use and if crashes were the regular consequence of the daily use of these machines we would have noticed it a long time ago.

The new thing is that somebody has found another way to INTENTIONALLY crash the machine -- there are lots of viruses out there which do exactly that. So now there is one more way to write a virus!

I guess the virus checkers will have to update their libraries to check for that possible virus.

Of course, somebody WANTING to push down INTC share price could use this bug and a bit of hype for a bit of scaremongering.
Few members of Joe Public would know the exact meaning of this bug unless it is explained to them carefully. Perhaps INTC should put out a clarifying statement.

Regards

Heg
