New Medical Form asks about Gun Ownership

My wife just brought new patient forms from one of the doctors
offices so that we can get established with the doctor.

Here are some of their questions

Do you have a fire extinguisher in your house?

Do you have a carbon monoxide detector in your house?

Do you have a smoke detector in your house?

Do you own any guns? How do you secure them?

WTF. Really? "Hey Mr. patient. We're gonna need to get your
cholestorol down, and this gun is gonna give you a heart
attack if we don't remove it."

I have a question for anyone who can answer. How do you get
your wife to stop being so naive about these things and get
her to realize that other forces may be at work here? When I
changed the answer on her form, she went off about me being
paranoid. I asked her why the medical office needed to know
about our gun ownership and told her that our records aren't
secure from everyone, she replied "They want to know if we are
safe, and I don't care if the govt looks at our records."

How do you change this kind of apathy?
