If the point of "marrying" is to thwart hackers, I wonder why the European systems don't do it? In any case, I agree with you that what is isn't what necessarily will be. BTW, the TracNet brochure shows return path options that may work for enabling PPV: <<Mobile DirecPC customers will have three integrated return link options: - A telephone jack, for lower-cost, land-line dial-up connections while parked or at the dock; - A cellular modem with an external, roof/deck-mounted antenna; and - A satellite modem and antenna (mounted in the same dome as the cellular modem antenna) providing wide geographic coverage as well as a supplemental low-speed mode. >>
