That is probably true, although we don't know exactly who is responsible for what made it the success that it is. Touch screen, Apps, Apples ecology, beautiful hardware... And we don't know who was the original dreamer who pushed it as a touch screen device... I suspect Ive pushed that. If you were around before the iPhone launch I was contending it would be touch screen and most people here thought I was wrong as no one would want fingerprints on their screen.

Basically we have two opinions floating around here.

One that Forestall was the driving force behind the iPhone and Apple's success in that area and that Apple needs an a-hole to push people to be better.

Two that Forestall, what ever his talents and past accomplishments, screwed up royally on two consecutive product launches, harrassed and distracted other Apple employees and basically kept his eye on his career rather than the products he was over seeing.

We decide which and place our bets.

Personally I'm thinking the latter. I see from today's price that the street thinks something more like the former. To me incorrect perceptions are where the money is made.
