Off Topic: Perkin Elmer as biotech? Thanks for the update on Perkin Elmer, it helps make sense of a news article I ran across a few months ago and it prompted a new investment idea. See below for new board. Thanks TI2

For those investors in the biotech field, you know how patience, volatility, and risk are a big part of investing in this sector. This board is to provide a forum to look at another slice of investing in this sector, hopefully to capitalize on the growth of this sector with less of the choppiness.
This board will focus on companies that provide either raw materials, instruments, or manufacturing equipment for this industry---The Biotech Picks and Shovels.
Please provide your ideas (lists?) on companies to discuss. Info to include would be if the business is materials/instruments/equipment, what percentage of the business is biotech, what percentage of the market they have, how proprietary is their product and what is their chance to maintain high market share. Of course the usual investment info should not be excluded!
I got this idea when I stumbled onto an article about Perkin Elmer (PKN) being a major supplier to this sector.
What do you think? Look forward to your comments and ideas.
