Cost basis of MHR warrants -

Last year I sold some MHR and the cost basis on the 1099 from E*Trade was wrong. It turns out they allocated 1% of the MHR cost basis to the warrants and reduced the cost basis of the MHR that I sold by this 1%. When the warrants expire I will then be able to claim this 1% as a loss.

Based on my research I think the warrants don't have any cost basis if they are less than 15% of the value of the stock.

Has anyone else had a problem similar to this?
