Info on US crude oil "exports":

Somewhere I've noticed claims the US is exporting crude oil. Can't recall where I saw this. Here are some facts.

Exports of crude oil from the US are pretty low - about 20,000 bpd (includes exports to US territories btw). Most of the exports of "crude oil and petroleum products" are petroleum products. No. 1 is fuel oil, which looks like it includes diesel fuel. No. 2 is petroleum coke.

Note: The European fuel market is tilted to diesel and the US tilted to gasoline. There is regular trade involving shipping diesel fuel to Europe and gasoline (mostly from the Rotterdam refineries to NY harbor) to the US. In addition, Mexican crude is shipped to refineries in Deer Park, TX and refined products sent back to Mexico due to Pemex's shortage of refining capacity.
