>>The big time sufferers in the free mp3 phenomenon are bands trying to "Make It." These are bands that depend very much on CD sales to get noticed by labels and get pushed and backing up to the next level of success.<<

These 'Make It' bands have always had a tough time. The music industry isn't a easy industry to get into.

Let me get this straight. The 'Make It' bands have to sell CDs first to get noticed by the labels to get pushed? I thought it was the other way around..

A up and coming band gets noticed by a label and gives them a few mill.

With that money, they produce a CD and tour to help get more known among music listeners to help sell more CDs. The pay off comes when they sell millions of CDs.

Nevertheless, if that article i read was right and fairly new, then CD sales are going up. Good for everyone even the small/unknown bands.
