pls418,

Earlier in the summer, I thought business was finally turning but now I'm sure the worst is still ahead. Deflation is here.

The EMS Providers are running hard to close capacity in North American and Europe and move it to China. There's too much of everything in NA and pricing pressures haven't abated. The up and coming Chineese EMS Providers are going to give FLEX, SLR, etc a very hard time in Asia. First one to free - wins!

Dramatic changes are occurring in the electronics industry that many are failing to think about and even react to. I compare today's environment to what happened in consumer electronics back in the early 80's. As an example, remember the TV mfg plants and associated component facilities throughout the midwest...they disappeared to Asia never to return. The same is happening today for telco gear, computers, lap tops, etc... Far too expensive in Mexico.

In five years you will not reconignize this industry. The best we can hope for is design and sales in North America. I'm skeptical design will stay here for long.

I wouldn't touch any of the top five EMS Providers. They are fun to trade though. ;)

Michael
