Cyanide is biodegradable. If some were to be dumped into a river accidentally, it would be devastating in the immediate area but would neutralize itself fairly quickly. Do you have any idea how much gasoline gets dumped into rivers from tanker truck accidents? Do you think we should ban cars or gasoline because of this? What I think does not matter. Would gasoline be banned if something was found to replace it that was non toxic and of the same cost or cheaper? I think it would. That is the key to the debate. Anything that is dangerous that can be replaced by something safe at close to the same cost will be replaced. Heck these people get public lands closed to motorized vehicles when there is an exsisting road on it that has been there for a 100 years. You don't think they can get cyanide banned if a nontoxic,same cost replacement is found?
