You mean the CIA (etc) found out that Musk had been chatting to Putin, but only just found out after reading Fortune Magazine?

Don't think so. Doubt it, very much so. They might pretend they don't know, but they would be one ill informed spy agency if they didn't know Musk was talking to Putin, and had access to government confidential information.
