Ted, <How could you have tried to carry a knife on board after all the press on this issue?>

It's on my keychain, a mini Swiss army knife. I use it for just about everything, from work to home.

One time, I arrived at the security checkpoint, but I forgot to put my pocket knife in my already checked-in luggage. The guard stops me and tells me I can't carry it past that point. Either I had to put my knife in my checked-in luggage (which was too late), or I had to surrender it. I gave it up.

The point is that I can't be trusted with a 1.5" knife, even though I've never held up or hurt anyone with such a knife, and I never could even if I wanted to. Yet my knife is being confiscated because I might be a potential hijacker. Yeah, uh huh, like anyone is going to comply with a terrorist wielding a 1.5" pocket knife.

Meanwhile, you have a confirmed madman in Iraq developing weapons that far exceed the dangers of my pocket knife. Moreover, said madman has used his own weapons before, and there is no guarantee that he won't do it again.
