Tax selling the stock and replacing with long calls or short puts would would only make sense if the calls the public is buying were in the money, but there not. today all the puts sold were jan 20's and 22 1/2's which would not allow much participation on the upside. The public bought over 3000 jan 30 calls for 5/16 5000 jan 27 1/2 calls and 11000 jan 25 calls. there were roughly 40000 calls traded today. i believe the stock is down because of FRO and todays collapse of LCI. there is no question in my mind, this is takeover speculation, rumors say that GTE is the buyer.
