. Only last fall, Gateway ended a brief supply arrangement with Advanced Micro Devices Inc Unlike Gateway, Dell has a large and very good design staff and creates the Optiplex line internally. This spills over into the Intel supplied motherboards. The boards can arrive, as all new products do, with problems. Gateway can detect problems but then has to sit around and wring their hands until Intel gives them a fix. Dell reworks the motherboards until they are better and of course gets first delivery of the now solved product. It filters out to Gateway eventually. TP
