I don't know where "three years" comes from. That seems much extended from the various time frames bandied about earlier. I sometimes wonder if there will ever be a W-CDMA.

As regards high cost of spectrum auction in UK, can the operators there wait 3 years to begin generating revenue? I assume since W-CDMA requires replacing GSM there'll be no interim GSM deployed in the auctioned spectrum.
