That reddit thread is about Quicken Canada. Not sure what's the difference.
However, Quicken 2017 website does not say anything about subscription and says that bank data is downloadable to 2020. Which is the same as it has been for last number of years - 3-years to sunset quicken.com

So I think it's a false alarm... so far.

I have no clue what they gonna do in 2018. They definitely hold me by the balls, so they could go annual subscription and there would not be much I could do...

I currently have Q 2016. Usual number of crappy implementation decisions and near-bugs. No alternative unfortunately.
