Re: I expect the combination of Mustang / DDR / 133(266) on 760 to result in, at best, an average total of 20% performance improvement versus ThunderBird / SDR / 100(200) on 750.

Do you really think so? Current benchmarks and some hints from Intel put P3/Athlon on PC133 at 20% greater IPC than P4. A 20% improvement over that for Mustang/DDR would mean a 1.1GHZ Mustang would consistently outperform a 1.5GHZ P4.

A 1.5GHZ Mustang/DDR would outperform a 2.1GHZ P4, and more important from a marketing standpoint, completely embarrass a 1.5GHZ P4. If P4 were to receive the same ridicule as was heaped upon the early celerons, it could damage its long term prospects.

Could Mustang IPC outperform P4 by that much?

Paul DeMone has claimed that P4 IPC will be as good or better than P3 IPC with such conviction that it almost appears he has seen benchmark results. It will be very interesting to see independent benchmarks!
