Definitely. I've been through several rounds of layoffs back when I was working for Intel. Never once were those layoffs triggered by losses, for Intel was consistently profitable during those years.

The bottom line is that Amazon is looking forward and seeing some choppy waters ahead. They're battening down the hatches with this latest round of layoffs. Being one of the top retail corporations in the world, those layoffs mean something for our macroeconomic future.

Of course the MAGA cultists will deny deny deny this. They are quick to take responsibility for any positive news while deflecting blame for any negative news. Same thing I saw under Biden, but the difference is that the Democrats back then had a small measure of shame.
