The transition will take time though. I'm not expecting much in the way of sales from Samsung's Gen 1 foldable smartphone. My baseline expectation is that they get the hardware right but I expect that the software will take some time. The key is to see a positive custome reaction and for prices to come down enough to allow a Galaxy Note or S foldable handset. If everything goes right, maybe we get that in late 2019? 2020 is more likely though.




Agreed. I think that OLED's stock price movement is reflective of that friction.

In my opinion, as long as Foldables are on the near-term horizon Apple is compelled to support the supply chain. This goes for tablets too. Apple knows that it can't make competitively priced flexible AMOLED supply appear out of thin air. Apple also knows that well designed foldables are going to be really really cool.
