Internet Argentina Deploys Ascend Communications MultiDSL Solution:
ALAMEDA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 21, 1998-- Ascend communications, Inc. (NASDAQ:ASND - news), a leader in wide area networking (WAN) and Intelligent Networking (IN) solutions for providers and users of the next-generation public network, today announced that Internet Argentina is deploying Ascend MultiDSLâ„¢ solution to deliver xDSL services. The Ascend MultiDSL solution combines the only integrated xDSL product line with complete management, Virtual Private Networking (VPN) and security functions needed to provide reliable end-to-end high-speed data services using IDSL, SDSL or ADSL technology.
Internet Argentina, an Internet service provider (ISP) based in Buenos Aires, is the first service provider in the country to deliver business class xDSL solutions. Internet Argentina expects to have up to 600 customers within the next six months. A partial list of current customers includes C.E.M.I.C.; Instituto Italiano de Comercio Exterior; Productora AEIOU S.A.; International Korn Ferry; Baufest S.A.; West Corp S.A.; Hospital Aleman; Tsubcero S.A.; Biblioteca Nacional; A.T.C. (Argentina Televisora Color), Verifone Argentina, and Survey Seed. High-speed xDSL services are currently available in Buenos Aires City.

Internet Argentina performed extensive testing on a wide variety of xDSL products. Based on those tests, Ascend excelled over the competition and proved to have the most complete xDSL solution on the market. The Ascend MultiDSL solution includes central office equipment (COE), the DSLTNT and MAX TNT, and customer premises equipment (CPE), the DSLPipe.
