LONDON, Aug 6 (Reuters) - Finnish electronics contract
manufacturer Elcoteq on Friday unveiled a wider-than-expected
first-half loss, warned of a full-year loss, announced 1,500 new
job cuts and said its chief executive had resigned.
Over 250,000 job cuts have been announced in the last few
months as companies around the world wrestle with slowing growth
and plunging demand.
The following is a list of job cuts announced recently by
some of the biggest players. Telecommunications contributed
around half of the overall losses.
The table shows the date when the cuts were announced and
only includes layoffs of 1,000 or more.
