If you're missing something, I don't see it. I do believe, however, that there is a renewed premium that will be placed on good science, and that companies will no longer languish with full patent portfolios and market caps of 50 million. So, I do think the down side is somewhat limited.

A short would also run the risk that the "I'll buy anthing ass'd with aging" crowd, the melatonin freaks et al., will find it and drive it. Telomere shortening for cancer and the skin senescence programs are super-hypable, and the proprietary position is clearly theirs.

I have a tough time shorting good science. You do it, and I'll congratulate you if it works. I haven't got the guts. :-)
