New Mexico: Kerry 50% Bush 43% Survey of 500 Likely Voters

Presidential Ballot

Bush 43%
Kerry 50%
Badnarik 5%
Not Sure 2%
RasmussenReports.com

August 5, 2004--Rasmussen Reports finds John Kerry with a 7-point lead over George W. Bush among New Mexico voters. Our first Election 2004 survey in the state shows Kerry with 50% of the vote, Bush with 43%, and Libertarian Michael Badnarik with 5%. Ralph Nader is not on the ballot in New Mexico.

This moves New Mexico to the "Leans Kerry" column for our Electoral College projection. Four years ago, Gore won the state by less than 400 votes.

Among all adults, as opposed to Likely Voters, Kerry leads 48% to 43% for Bush with Badnarik still attracting 5% of the vote.

I'll tell you what, the story this election might be the fact that Michael Badnarik pulls enough votes away from Bush for Kerry to win. I can't see how anyone with libertarian leanings wouldn't be utterly appalled with some of the things Bush has done. He's in the process of creating a police state and trying to get the American people to accept it. I might even vote Libertarian this fall. :-)
