They'd still be insanely profitable. They'd still publish new editions, students would still spend big $$$...but the publisher' costs would go down. No more paper, faster to "print"...and down the road, wireless delivery to bookstores, so no shipping expense. The e-book would, for a fee of course, be loaded with the current text, access would be secured by the student's password.

I think the only element that would suffer would be the bookstore...no more used books.
