AS,

At the risk of actually getting suckered into a dialog with you, I have to ask: Are you so naive as to think that stock prices go straight down in a bear market and that rallies are impossible to occur during such a market climate? We are in the midst of a rally that will be short lived. This is a holiday weekend, nothing, I repeat nothing has happened in the economy to justify this move as genuine. If you believe otherwise, you are woefully mistaken. I will buy stocks for longer term when there is actual economic improvement and the major trend is changed. It is a foolish mistake to think it is time to add to a long portfolio simply because stock prices are "low". Low does not imply value. The overbought, overextended stock market condition of the last couple years will continue to correct until there is genuine economic improvement. I can appreciate that you are excited that this rally has happened. Traders will take gains either way. You are implying investing. That is a misjudgment of facts, guided by your emotion for stocks. Emotions will never suffice for prudent investing.
