I was curious what the thinking is about using general dividend ETFs like Vanguard High Dividend Yield ETF (VYM) or Schwab U.S. Dividend Equity ETF (SCHD) just as examples. There would obviously be some overlap if added to a portfolio comprised of individual dividend equities - but is there maybe some upside by adding a little bit of diversification since some of the underlying equities aren't owned elsewhere in the portfolio? I DCA a bit every week (currently into individual equities) - and if I did add one of these ETFs I was thinking that I would put the DCA money into the ETF instead. I keep going back and forth between this seeming like a good idea or maybe I'm just looking to do something just for the sake of doing something and there's really no upside.

Thanks
