OT - weekend ruminations

Talking to my old truck driver buddy got me to thinking. At 67 he had retirement panned. Wifes small pension,
both their social securities and $100,000 in a retirement account would see them through.

When she got cancer and died quickly everything changed. He no longer gets her small pension or her social
security. With a $100,000 mortgage, he now takes $500 a month from the retirement account.

He says when he runs out of money for the month, he just stays home and watches TV. What a retirement.

This weighed on me enough to sit down with the wife and our accounts, pretending that I was no longer able
to be in the picture. Now knowing that she will have no problems, as a matter of fact, be "sitting pretty", has
given me a little more peace of mind. Hopefully with this knowledge she doesn't "bump me off".......
