Commander begins 2004 exploration at Baffin Island Commander Resources Ltd (2) CMD Shares issued 24,433,117 May 21 close $0.58 Tue 25 May 2004 News Release Mr. Kenneth Leigh reports COMMANDER COMMENCES DRILL PROGRAM ON BAFFIN ISLAND The 2004 exploration program on the Baffin Island gold project as outlined by Commander Resources in Stockwatch on March 29, 2004, has commenced. Diamond drilling has begun on the Malrok gold zone to test the area and possible extension of the high-grade composite channel samples recovered from the 2003 work program, including 24.9 grams per tonne (g/t) Au over 3.6 metres, 13 g/t Au over 3.5 metres, 30.8 g/t Au over 3.8 metres, 50 g/t Au over one metre, 14.4 g/t Au over 5.1 metres and 12 g/t Au over 2.4 metres. Approximately 2,500 metres of diamond drilling is planned during the first spring phase of the project at Malrok. In addition, a ground magnetic-electromagnetic (mag-EM) survey and a 2,500-line-kilometre airborne mag-EM survey has started. The ground geophysics will initially be employed at Malrok to define the detailed structure and distribution of the iron formation. The airborne survey is designed to map out the regional extent of the iron formation and guide the summer prospecting program. Once the snow has melted, estimated to be late June or early July, geological mapping, prospecting and channel sampling will commence to follow up, evaluate and prioritize the gold prospects discovered by the company's geological team in 2003 along the 140-kilometre-long belt of prospective rocks and to identify new gold/base metal prospects. The first priority of the summer program will be to follow up the "Ridge Lake zone" where prospecting in 2003 over a 2.5-kilometre stretch of exposed iron formation resulted in surface grab samples grading up to 17.3 g/t Au. An additional 2,500 metres of diamond drilling is planned during the summer phase of drilling to test targets developed from the detailed ground follow-up program.
