For those of you who are interested:
A local Raleigh, NC radio station is running a supposed contest
called "America Off-line." A caller phones in and the station
supposedly calls AOL with the caller waiting on the line. If they
get a busy signal, the caller wins a year's free access through a
local ISP (conveniently owned by the radio station's parent). The
ad is really funny, and of course, there is always a busy signal.
The whole thing could be a put-on, but it is a pretty hard slap
at AOL that is heard by an awful lot of people every day. This
contest runs constantly, too.
Has anyone else heard of such a contest running elsewhere?
