Well, really not a lot of difference from the last few weeks. This week the NASDAQ is down, but only by a little, The biotech indices are further in the red for the week, especially the Standard and Poor’s biotech index. No real big winners, the top was DNTH (nee MGTA), +16%, filling in a portion of a larger loss the previous week (-27%). And also not enough to improve their YTD third place position, (+136%). MOR’s fourth place for the week (+10%) was enough for its YTD numbers to poke up into fifth place (+82%).

There was a little more ink (in this case red) for this week's losing stocks: ETNB dropping by -66% of its original price, which was due to poor trial showings in a competitor’s similar product. The second place loser for the week, again, is INZY; dropping -44% of the original price on top of last week’s loss of -32%. Even so INZY is STILL in the top place for YTD performance, +220%, just not quite as impressive as it had been.

The contest portfolios continue to bleed red, dropping another -$4.2k on average. For at least the last three weeks only a single portfolio was in the black, this week’s winner being BLADERUNNER. If you hav e been paying attention you would know that this is thanks to their 20% position in JSPR, which was second place for this week’s stocks. But even with the +$3k this earned, along with another +$800 from a smaller position in DNTH, the rest of their portfolio’s losses left them with only $1.7k for the week.

It was a particularly bad week for ERIKOTTO, plunging past STEVE LOKNESS to third place, so that once again they change places in the YTD standings:. That was the only action in the YTD standings other than ARTHUR RADLEY returning to the list at seventh place. STEVE LOKNESS is now chasing to over take ALONER, but ALONER’s advantage in first is relatively unchanged with $9k separating the two.

After all the beating that the portfolios generally have taken, it is not a surprise that at this point only ALONER and STEVE LOKNESS are in the black YTD, and neither of them have a much of a cushion to keep that status.

There was email raising some questions about the whole MGTA to DNTH change. ALONER couldn’t remember DNTH as one of his pick’s, but that’s just the change in ticker symbol for his MGTA position. Another emailer said that I had not correctly included the 14 for one reverse split, thinking my talk about the “big bump” in performance was forgetting the split (Yahoo Finance still does not properly include this for the historical record). I in fact had properly included the effects of the split, and the bump I was referring to was a real, if more modest, surge at the beginning of the week, Oct 2nd, much, much later than the split on September 12th.
